Hot Topics Campaign members attend extraordinary National Citizens Coalition for Nursing Home Reform Annual Meeting – The Campaign was proud to send Nadene Mitcham, Carole Newburry, and Paul VanWestrienen to NCCNHR’s Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. in October. Also in attendance were almost all of the state’s long term care ombudsman, many of whom are also members of the Campaign, and Campaign statewide coordinator Alison Hirschel who was re-elected to the NCCNHR Board and serves as its Vice President. The conference was filled with powerful presentations by nationally recognized authorities on long term care and, opportunities to network and learn from other advocates and consumers across the country. Although there were representatives from almost every state, Michigan had by far the largest state delegation! At the membership meeting, the Campaign offered a proposed resolution that the CMS Nursing Home Compare website include information on nursing home’s fire safety protections which was approved for a vote by the full membership.
